The EPICT Framework & Syllabus

The EPICT Framework offers a comprehensive overview of what technologies can be used at School and the related results in terms of competences for students. The EPICT Teachers' Competences Syllabus describes the competeces teachers need to manage ICT based learning scenarios.

The EPICT Framework is consistent with the UNESCO ICT CFT standard which identifies the following three approaches to ICT use at School:

  • A "Digital Literacy" approach: teachers use digital technologies to make more engaging lessons in a traditional classroom enriched with computer and projector or interactive board, using Internet as source of informations, where children make researches as homework and display their work with presentations;
  • A "Knowledge deepening" approach: teachers introduce in class the use of communication tools and propose collaborative and project-based activities linked with real world issues;
  • A "Knowledge Creation" approach: teachers require students to create multimedia products and involve them in interactive learning activities.

 

 

EPICT Teachers' Competences Syllabus

For each learning scenario described by the Framework, the EPICT Syllabus identifies which competences are request to design and manage those scenarios. Each Module describes three main areas of competences and the evidences requested in order to gain the EPICT Certification.
